Build Your Own Keyboard

Note: This game was intended to be a submission to GMTK 2023. Unfortunately the wrong file format was uploaded on the submission page, disqualifying the entry. This page exists in case anyone wishes to play the game.

Build Your Own Keyboard is an inception-style metroidvania where a platforming hero jumps around on keyboard keys to input commands for a game-within-the-game. Unlockable abilities include additional keyboard keys that get added to the screen to allow more actions for the hero on the small screen. Fitting with the reversed roles theme, the mini-game hero shares an uncanny resemblance with the programmer.

In the developer's opinion, this game is conceptually pretty interesting and definitely his best gamejam effort to date, but it's also his first project in Unity so it is a bit rough around the edges. But he learned a lot and had a lot of fun making this zany game :)
